Bits and bobs

Had a quick catchup with my bestie C this week. We met at Harbourtown so i could pick up S' fathers day gift. While we were there we of course stopped by the Oroton store. I couldn't believe when I glimpsed the coral coloured clutch I had been searching for the past year was on display and at half price (previously shown on my blog wish list a while back). Reluctantly I passed however due to a major upcoming expenses this week. C, being my best friend and knowing me better than almost anyone knew how much I wanted the clutch and offered to buy it for me. Brushing aside my protests she insisted that she had been looking for a special way to show me her appreciation for a few things I did for her after her daughter was born and this was perfect. So now I am the proud owner of this gorgeous Anouk coral clutch... So spoilt!

Unbelievably, Bubba is now 10 weeks old. I'm very much in shock as to how quickly the has gone and how big my little boy is now. He is really starting to set a bit of a routine for himself and some nights I am getting a great block of sleep. He is still a brilliant feeder so the nursing couldn't be better and the best part of all, he is the smiliest little angel. From first thing in the morning his face lights up and he starts cooing... Without a doubt the best way to start the day.

My sister in law mentioned the other day that she had bought some Photo book deals from Cudo for under $25 each. What a great way to display my 2 million photos of our Japan honeymoons last year, all our other much loved pics and most importantly, the gazillion photos of my precious bubba. Better than having them all sit in iPhoto with just a few displayed around the house. So I snapped up a few and spent the week collating the albums. I am so super happy with the results and it was so ridiculously easy to put them together. Given how simple they are to create and the cheap price, I figure I can do a book for every 6 months of E's life and end up with a beautiful encyclopedia type collection on our shelves.

It was S' first fathers day today so i really felt the pressure of finding the perfect gift. A few voguettes got cufflinks with their little ons hand and footprints embossed but S doesnt use cufflinks all that much so it seemed a waste. Instead i decided to get S a dad bag. As he will have bubba one full day while I am back at work and has no desire to use my Oroton baby bag, it seemed a good idea to get him his own baby bag. I ended up getting him a mid size sports bag from Nike and stocked it with his own set of bubba's essentials: wipes, change mat, spare clothes, dummy and sterilizer pod, nappy bags, nappies etc. we also through in some socks and a new tee. S seemed pretty pleased with his own 'to go' baby kit. It will also be perfect for when he and bub start swimming lessons in a couple of months. We celebrated the day with a brekky BBQ at my parents house then S bub and I went shopping and for lunch. Now just winding down with a cider after bather our little angel.

Quick catchup

So like most new mommies with blogs, I've been pretty slack lately however I have moved house and put in a few hours at work to boot.

Baby E is now 9 weeks old - I know, that went so quickly - and the changes in him are amazing. Such a happy bubba, he is now full of smiles and cooing particularly when he has your undivided attention. His absolute favourite place to date appears to be his change table! He loves being naked and is an enormous fan of his mobile above it - he will happily lay there as long as we allow and kick, wave his arms, coo and smile like crazy. He is so alert now and responsive to everything around him - honestly, watching a baby grow is like watching a miracle unfold.

So apart from watching my own little miracle, I have been spending my time unpacking, pottering around our new (and much bigger) home and socializing with all my fellow maternity leave mamas.

This week my girlfriends and I (with Bubs in tow) caught The Bourne Legacy screening. $8.50 for vmax with bubba - yes please. All 3 Bubs were amazingly well behaved and we even managed lunch at Grill'd after. I am making the most of getting out and about at the infant stage as I imagine the movies will be a but hard when E starts to move.

In shopping news I have of course been busy during my nursing periods ...

Absolutely loving Country Road lately although I know their Spring pieces are not to everyone's taste and the September release has not disappointed. I raced in store today to get the peplum top as I was sure it will sell out quickly - I wasn't wrong, 2 days in and stocks are very low! Gorgeous cut and fabric for only $99.

I was also overdue for a Strawberrynet order ... My sis recently ventured out of our usual comfort zone to try Smashbox Studio Skin foundation with great results - a flawless finish that looked polished yet reasonably natural. I'm a joiner so yep, I bought some too along with Nars Luster and Lovejoy now that my Orgasm blush has finally finished. I was hoping to get my Nars Dolce Vita lipstick too (worlds most universally flattering lip colour) but no luck so made do with Chanel in 05 Mademoiselle.

It's 3am and bubba is sound asleep so I'm going to do the same as we have a big Sunday planned - a 3rd birthday party in the morning, lunch with friends and then a BBQ at our place late afternoon.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

FYI sorry about the pics and their display - blogging from my phone at the moment.

A bit of everything

I've been a bit quiet at this end as I'm using every spare moment that bubba E is napping to pack up and clean our house in ready for our big move. Especially as its now happening a week earlier - this Friday being the big day! I can't wait to have linen cupboards, an extra living area and another bedroom!

In exciting news, my gorgeous bestie M is engaged! I know, so wonderful. She is on 5 weeks holiday in Greece with her fam and partner - jelly much? He proposed at the Acropolis with a spectacular ring and of course she said yes - cant wait till she gets back so I can give my congratulations in person.

I had to top up my wardrobe this week - I am running out of clothes that fit me since I am now below pre pregnancy weight and am sick of wearing navy grey and black which seems to be all I own in bf friendly clothes. Thankfully the husband took pity and spoilt me with some pieces from Country Roaf. I finally jumped on the coloured jeans bandwagon and got a pair in aquamarine and a pair in washed coral along with a black and a white tee ... And I couldn't resist a little blue polo for bubba E for spring (paired with some RL Polo chinos for his cousins' christening). Loving my coloured jeans and can't believe I took so long to join the trend! They are just so fresh and wearing some colour makes me feel like its springtime.

I am also weighing up doing a Topshop order ... Can anyone tell me if the Melbourne store does phone orders? There are few tops I now NEED to complete my wardrobe.

Speaking of, I also have two dresses calling my name at Trenery so will probably bite the bullet and order these tomorrow. One even looks bf friendly.

In sad news, we said goodbye to S' grandad this week (93) and another dear family friend. Never nice but highlights how important it is to make each day count and be thankful for it.

Bubba E us doing great! Absolutely thriving packing on 500g a week. We both survived his 6 week immunisations Thank goodness although I did need to take my mum to dry my tears. E at 7 weeks is now really responsive and is smiling, laughing and making all sorts of sounds ... It's amazing how quickly they develop. E is also a bit of a party boy - sleeps all day up all night so we are working on separating night and day for him still. Sadly he also seems to suffer from some reflux we have noticed which is causing him significant discomfort when we put him down at night in his bassinet even though it's propped up - he wakes every single time and cries. So in the interest of his comfort and saving our sleep, I picked up a Fisher Price Rock n' play on sale at half price and so far so good. A hammock type rocking contraption with a good incline seems to be providing E with much more comfort than the fancy expensive bassinet we have - isn't that always the way ha ha.

That's it for me for now ... Will be back with more after I get this move done .
